Indoor Soccer
(05 Dec 05:37)Good amount of guys. Two basketball courts, 7v7 probably. THe first 30 or so minutes my stomach really hurt, my abs were really clenched or something. But it got better. Maybe because I ate a bunch of chicken alfredo too close to playing. I scored a sweet goal from the back line, popped it up over everyone on a clear and into the open net. A few other goals, and other than me getting nutmeg’d a disproportionate amount played real well.

(22 Nov 04:19)Good indoor game. 5v5 on a basketball court. Our team mostly destroyed. I hadn’t played in a while so was a bit off, but it’ll be good to get back into it.

Game vs Scholastica
(08 Nov 23:26)1-0. Pat reamed a shot from 30 yards out off the inside of the far post and across behind the goalie into the side netting about 15 minutes in, and we held it from there.
We played a beautiful first half, completely and utterly dominating them. We nailed our quick passing game, and they couldn’t touch it. Possession was probably 80/20. They came out hard in the second half—and we got a bit frantic—but things held and we won for the second year in a row. It was good.

Soccer Practice
(07 Nov 14:00)A shorter practice in Duluth to prep for the championship tomorrow. Not bad weather–wise, drizzling and somewhere around 40º. But snow’s forecasted for tomorrow, so probably as good as we’re gonna get.

Ultimate Frisbee
(06 Nov 05:01)Great time. At first it was just me and brendan—but a few more trickled in until we had 7 and played inbox/outbox for 1 hour plus. Which was awesome. Good stuff. Frisbee is way more fun than soccer lately. Just pure fun, people who aren’t jackasses1. I’ll have to find a place to play when I get back to the cities.
1 (not that the soccer players are, but whatever jackass is in them gets magnified by the nature of high stakes competition we’re going to try and get to the national tournament bullshit that the soccer team is putting itself through)

Soccer Practice
(06 Nov 01:01)Practice has been pretty lame lately. It was all right for the first time, just hitting shots and crosses on the goalies, except for that I didn’t get many good ones. I got power on most of them, at least more than I usually have, but just missed a lot of net. Then there’s a whole segregation of the starters and everyone else, which I was fine with when I started but gets to you when you don’t. Just gives me little to no reason to really try, makes everything less fun.

Game vs Presentation
(04 Nov 15:00)First game of the playoffs, us vs presentation for the third time in 6 days. Pat got his fifth yellow so he couldn’t play, so we were weaker than usual in the middle. It was a nail biter, but it definitely paid off in the end.
They went up one early on a misplay by both our outside back and goalie. Took us until the second to pull one back, but we couldn’t do any better until the last few minutes of the first overtime, where toby scored a very nice goal. One more try at Scholastica on saturday.

Game vs Presentation
(01 Nov 21:46)3-2. They went up by one early on, we tied it, but then they scored a very pretty header from the penalty spot off of a corner kick. It went until 75 minutes with us down 1-2, then diggs cleaned a ball into the goal that the goalie couldn’t quite get too. 3 minutes later he’s breaking up the middle, gets to the outside of his defender and rifles one along the ground to the far post, ricocheting in. Fun game to watch, which is unfortunately mostly what I did. But oh well.
